Hey Ali - This drawing is one where your son uses symbols rather than drawing from observation. His symbols are great too. The eyes are open, so I would say that he feels like it is safe to look at the world around him - he 'sees' what is going on. All are smiling, so his world is a happy one. Each person has feet, so he feels free to move about in his world. Once he adds arms and hands, you'll know he feels like he is able to manipulate (& create in) his world. I'm assuming the black is a sidewalk (at the least, a path), so I would say he feels he has a good path to follow in life. He feels comfortable going where he is going and it is interesting.

I'm not an expert on child psychology though, these are just my observations from having worked with a lot of children and adults and seeing their progressions of drawing and watching changes that their personalities go through while observing the changes in their artwork. As adults we continue to use symbology in our art (especially beginners) - sometimes intended, sometimes not.
